Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
When the Silver Galleries reopened in November 1996, the Friends of the V&A chose to commemorate this achievement by commissioning a piece of silver. The Director chose Chris Knight (b.1964) as an artist capable of providing a contemporary design and a standard of finish that would be suitably monumental. Chris Knight, who is already represented in major collections, designs and produces silverware to be used. He regards functional requirements as creative guidelines, not restrictions. From time to time, these candelabra will be used when the Director entertains formally.
