Maurice Sheppard was born in the small Pembrokeshire village of Llangwm in 1947. He studied art at Kingston-upon-Thames from 1967 to 1970 (where he was taught etching by Wilfred Fairclough) and at the Royal College of Art from 1970 to 1973. An intense study of natural forms, exemplified by this vivid watercolour of plants, has always been at the heart of Sheppard's work.
