Hand Bell

1966-1967 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This toy bell was owned by Caroline Egan. It was bought for her by her father, whom she remembers got it for her as she promised to behave better. She asked for it because it reminded her of being given the chance to ring the bell at the beginning and end of the school day: one particular time she was allowed to do this, the ringer fell off the bell and she spent the whole day worrying about being found out. At the end of the day, another school child fixed the bell with their teacher to Caroline's great relief.
