Artist/Maker

Arthur Banfield was a versatile photographer practising around 1900-1930. He worked in a range of genres, including pictorial photographs, portraits and landscapes to photo micrography. Banfield became a member of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) in 1920 and was admitted as a Fellow in 1921. He was very active within the RPS lecture circuit and also wrote many articles for The Photographic Journal.

Physical description
Black and white aerial photograph depicting the island of Manhattan and surrounding New York. Skyscrapers are visible on the southern point of the island, closest to the photographer. There are boats in the river surrounding the island.
