Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Granny Takes a Trip opened in Chelsea's World's End in 1965. Owners John Pearse, Sheila Cohen and Nigel Waymouth offered a very different version of fashion to the one promoted by most of the King's Road boutiques. Behind a series of surreal temporary shop fronts, they promoted an exclusive and mysterious 'look' based around the concepts of nostalgia and psychedelia. Initially selling off garments from Sheila Cohen's collection of vintage clothing, the shop soon responded to demand by making up new designs, such as this dress.
