Armchair. ‘Karuselli 412’ designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro, born 1933 Helsinki, Finland.
Physical description
Steel reinforce glass fibre shell with black leather upholstery with stitched seaming. The shell rests under the arms on a chromium plated steel cradle which allows it to swing and swivel on the glass fibre of the back and underside of the shell, and the foot has white finish.

The basic shell is of a highly refined form which needs little padding. Its capacity both to swivel and rock allows the sitter, in degree, to change posture without actually moving the body position in the shell. The Karuselli was first shown at the International Trade Fair, Helsinki, in 1965, and received the Lunning Prize in 1966.
