The Romanian Hungarian Democratic Union (UDMR) is the biggest political party in Romania representing the interests of the Hungarian minority, which accounts for around 7.1% of Romanian population. The party was established in December 1989. After the first democratic elections in 1990, following the overthrow of communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, the UDMR became one of the key parties in Romanian political life. The poster text reads 'For our democratic future - workers, peasants, intellectuals vote for the Union.'
