Judging from its size and the gentle curve of its handle, this spoon is likely to date to the early Koryo period (918-1392). During this time the quality of bronzewares improved and the best pieces date to around the 1100s. Bronzewares were used for ceremonial and daily use and range from elaborately decorated kundika (water sprinklers) to simple bowls, bottles, mirrors, spoons and chopsticks.
