This bronze medal was made by J. P. Legastelois in France, in about 1918. This medal, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français in 1920, celebrates the contribution made by John Joseph Pershing the American general who led the American Expeditionary Force in Europe during the First World War.

General Pershing, struck bronze, by Jules Prosper Legastelois, French, 20th century, about 1918.
Physical description
Obv., portrait head of General Pershing in uniform, bare-headed, three-quarters right. Rev., U. S. troops, led by a soldier carrying the American flag, advance into battle to left. In the background a group of gunners load a shell, and aircraft fly overhead.
