This medal representing Marshal Ferdinand Foch (1851-1929) is made by Georges-Henri Prud’homme, in France in ca. 1918.
The reverse shows the railway carriage no. 2419D, in a woodland setting at Rethondes in the forest at Compiegne, near Paris, where Marshal Foch signed the Armistice in 1918 with the Germans. He was elected to the Academie-français in 1920.
Prud'homme (1873-1947), medallist and sculptor was a pupil of Alexandre Falguière and Alpheé Dubois. He was arwarded Legion of Honour in 1923.
