British sculptor Richard Deacon was first nominated for the Turner Prize in 1984 and subsequently won the honour when nominated a second time in 1987 for his exhibition 'For Those Who Have Eyes.' Deacon employs a variety of unconventional materials in his work such as laminated wood, corrugated iron, cloth and leather. In the drawings which he created for Momart's 1996 Christmas greeting, Deacon references the amoeba-like forms that figure in his three-dimensional pieces.
